We have recently installed a new instrument that gives your doctor an excellent view of the inside of your eye as part of your eye health exam. This digital image of your retina is far superior to the retinal photographs we have used in the past because it lets us have a wide angle view (200°), instead of a fairly narrow view as shown below in these side views of an eyeball:
